Developers Don Coker and Tom Cahillane appeared before the Park Board to
discuss their proposed 40 lot development on 14 acres bordered by 50 West and
1050 North; south of Tamarack Development and east of south 5th Street. The
development, dubbed Duneland Trails, will back up onto the old Wabash
Railroad Line and connect through a pathway to the Chesterton High School
walking trail. There will be two entrances, one on 50 West and one on 1050 N.
The development was incorrectly identified as being in the Crocker section of
Chesterton. In the advance notice of the Park Board meeting.
The new, per lot RIF, set at $1,171 for each new residential dwelling unit,
including individual apartments, will come into play, board members informed
Coker; instead of a lump sum donation to the parks.
The board unanimously agreed to send a letter to the Plan Commission letting
them know the Duneland Trails plans had been presented and approved by the
Park Board.
