PUD for Alliance Business Center on Chesterton agenda

Back To Front Page

The Chesterton Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the town hall.

At that meeting, members are scheduled to consider the planned unit development ordinance for the Alliance Business Center, proposed for construction at Ind. 49 and 950N, south of the Indiana Toll Road. The westernmost 56 acres of the parcel would allow Industrial-1 and Industrial-2 uses as well as medical-related research facilities, test laboratories, and a distribution center with trailer storage. The easternmost 24 acres would allow Business-3 and Residential-3 uses, including possibly 20 living units above retail, should the market drive the project in that direction.

The Advisory Plan Commission unanimously endorsed the PUD ordinance at its October meeting.

In other business, the council is scheduled to hear from Franciscan Alliance about directional signage; and from Steve Brady of Heritage Advisory Group, who has been reviewing the town’s health insurance with a view to reducing its cost.

Redevelopment Commission

Earlier in the evening, at 6:30 p.m., the Redevelopment Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting.

Members are likely to hear updates on the Dickinson Road extension project and on the planned upgrade of the traffic signal at the intersection of Indian Boundary Road and North Calumet Road.
