Leaf collection extended into first week of December

Chesterton residents who haven’t raked their leaves yet better get cracking.

Although the Street Department has extended its leaf program beyond Thanksgiving--due partly to bad weather but mostly to a late leaf fall this season--Street Commissioner John Schnadenberg told the Town Council at its meeting Monday night that crews will probably be wrapping things up next week.

“We’ll try to go into the first week of December,” Schnadenberg said. But if the weather turns, he added, all bets are off. “If you haven’t raked your leaves, I suggest you do so.”
