Advisory Plan Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.
At that meeting
planners will hold a public hearing on the primary plat for a double hotel
project, located immediately to the north of the Speedway gas station and
the Culver’s restaurant in Coffee Creek Center.
Group of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., is proposing to build both a Holiday Inn
Express and a Fairfield Inn & Suites on the site. The Fairfield Inn & Suites
would feature 87 rooms in three stories and be built immediately east of
Ind. 49. The Holiday Inn Express would feature 90 rooms in four stories and
be built east of the Fairfield. The complex would be accessed by Matson
Street and Blackwell Lane.
Planners will also
hold a preliminary hearing on a 64-unit planned unit development being
pursued by John Nekus and his JVJ Development, eyed for a heavily wooded
11-acre site located immediately behind the Chesterton Post Office.
Of those 64 units,
62 would be paired patio homes, along the lines of those on Texas Street,
with two single-family homes thrown in for good measure. The main entrance
to the development would be off South Calumet Road, just north of the Post
Office, with a secondary entrance off Richter Street. The development would
essentially back on the Westchester South subdivision, to the west.
