CPD: Thomas Park boxcar restroom found vandalized

The women’s restroom in the Thomas Centennial Park boxcar was vandalized last week, Chesterton Police are reporting.

According to police, at 10 a.m. cleaning staff entered the women’s restroom and found that “fecal matter” had been “spread on the outside of the handicapped stall” and the disposal containers for feminine products “filled with used paraphernalia.”

“The vandalism caused noxious odors and unsanitary conditions as well as biohazard issues requiring extensive cleanup,” police said.

“This is not the first time vandalism of this or other various natures have occurred to the restroom facility,” police added.

The cost of cleaning up the restroom, police said: $250.
