The Chesterton Advisory Plan Commission will deal with two preliminary hearings and two public hearings when it meets Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall.

Under public hearing is Lake Erie Land Co.’s request as property owner to amend its original plan for Coffee Creek Center to allow developer Mainstreet Property Group to build a 7,750 square-foot rehabilitation and assisted living center on 8.5 acres north of Gateway Boulevard.

The project also will have a preliminary hearing on a related petition by LEL to consider approving primary plat for the nursing-home parcel. If approved, it would advance to a Jan. 15 public hearing.

Thursday’s second public hearing is for Lakeside Wealth Management Group’s request to erect two single-sided signs at 3100 Village Point Dr. in Coffee Creek Center where Lakeside shares a building with Duneland Dialysis Center.

An additional preliminary hearing will take place for Wake Robin Inc., which is requesting to plat property at the former Pioneer Lumber outdoor storage buildings in Pioneer Pointe commercial subdivision. HP Construction Services Inc. has proposed purchasing a portion of the Pioneer property to use for its HP Granite Co. subsidiary.

The business would develop a showroom for granite, marble and quartz products and have machines on site to fabricate natural stone products for countertops and vanities. HP Construction also has a companion petition before the town Board of Zoning Appeals seeking a use variance to allow operation of the business in a Business-3 zone.

The Plan Commission also will address four infrastructure/sidewalk guarantees for various projects.

This month’s Chesterton BZA will take place Dec. 29 at 6:30 p.m. in place of its scheduled Dec. 25 meeting.
