Clerk-Treasurer Stephanie Kuziela has released the list of open board seats
Residents who wish
to apply for a seat must send a letter of interest to Kuziela by 4:30 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 10, at the municipal complex, 1490 Broadway.
Incumbents who wish
to be re-appointed must also submit a letter of interest.
For the purpose of
a board appointment, a personís political affiliation is determined by the
ballot pulled in the last two primary elections in which he or she voted.
The open seats:
* Advisory Plan
Commission: one seat, presidential appointment. Must be a Republican or an
* Board of Zoning
Appeals: two presidential appointments, one of which must be a citizen
member of the Advisory Plan Commission. There is no political affiliation
requirement for a member of the BZA.
* Park Board: two
seats, both council appointments. One must be a Democrat or Independent, the
other must be a Republican or Independent.
* Utility Service
Board: one seat, presidential appointment. May be a Republican, Democrat, or
Commission: one seat, council appointment. May be a Republican, Democrat, or
Management Board: one seat, presidential appointment. Must be a Republican
Commission: five seats, three presidential appointments, two council. There
is no political affiliation requirement.
* Tree Committee:
one seat, council appointment. There is no political affiliation
Economic Development Company: two seats, one council appointment, one
Development Board: one seat, a council recommendation to the Porter County
Council, which makes the actual appointment.
