The Burns Harbor Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday for its regular meeting at Town Hall, 1240 N. Boo Rd.

On the agenda, the the Council will consider four resolutions and two ordinances. There will be a hearing on the creation of an economic revitalization area (ERA) at the property owned by Masterlink Concrete Pumping, LLC at 347 Melton Rd.

Last month, Masterlink owner Steve Slater said he is requesting a full 100 percent abatement for ten years on the approximately $500,000 in improvements to the property, such as renovating the older auto care building and access drives. In order for the full abatement to be approved, an ERA for the redevelopment of the abandoned building will need to be established.

Once the building improvements are complete, Masterlink plans to create eight to ten full-time positions, Slater said.

Other resolutions to be considered Wednesday are an inter-fund loan to the Operation Pull Over grant, the 2017 employee salary ordinance and a proclamation of Indiana Statehood Day and Bicentennial.

Two ordinances the Council will discuss and vote on are adding a new construction policy to the Sewer Rate ordinance and adding manufacturing tags to the fee table.

In new business, the Council will make appointments to town boards, appoint department heads for 2017, determine organization of the Council for 2017, approve the Clerk-Treasurer’s bond for 2017 and nepotism certifications.

The Council will consider approval of contracts for fire service, legal service, engineering service and financial service.

The Street Department will present quotes for vehicles.

In old business, the Council will hear a report on the bids for the state grant paving projects. Also to be discussed are street light locations and the Town’s bicentennial ceremony.

The public will be able to make comments during the Good of the Order of the Community.
