Trojans clinch share of Duneland Conference tennis title

The Chesterton girls tennis team improved to 6-0 in Duneland Athletic Conference play with a 4-1 victory over Michigan City on Tuesday.

With the win, the Trojans clinch a share of the DAC title. They will have a chance to win the outright title on Thursday at LaPorte.

Chesterton swept singles play as Meg Modesto beat Lenka Zavodska at No. 1 6-0, 6-1 and Margaret Shinn beat Carol Stuetz at No. 2 6-0, 6-0. JJ Lee beat Megan Methner at No. 3 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles, Rachel McCrum and Ellen were victorious at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Dayna Pedzinski and Kristen Palmer.

Doubles - 1. Rachel McCrum/Ellen Kerr def. Dayna Pedzinski/Kristen Palmer 6-1, 6-1; 2. Karla Gieser/Claire Hirsch (MC) def. Natalie Petro/Abby Burke 1-6, 7-5, (10-5).

Record: Chesterton 10-1 (6-0 Duneland Athletic Conference).
