Trojan volleyball sweeps Merrillville in 3 games

The Chesterton volleyball team picked up a 25-23, 25-18, 25-11 Duneland Athletic Conference victory at Merrillville on Thursday night.

Offensively, Meghan Gaffigan led the Trojans with 12 kills, while Maggie Vrahoretis added nine kills. Maddie Wagner contributed five kills with Sydney Baltus and Emma Ekblaw tallying three kills each.

Vivi Smilgius dished out a team-high 26 assists.

Defensively, Gaffigan and Katie Nelson each had 11 digs, while Baltus added 10 digs. Vrahoretis tallied eight digs with Greta Tilden contributing seven digs in the victory.

On the service line, Gaffigan had five aces and Baltus added three aces. At the net, Ekblaw recorded three blocks.

Chesterton will wrap-up the regular season on Saturday when they travel to the North Montgomery Invitational in Crawfordsville.
