Trojan Volleyball picks up 5 game DAC win

The Chesterton volleyball team picked up a tough 5-game Duneland Athletic Conference victory 25-22, 16-25, 22-25, 25-13, 15-8 over Portage on Tuesday night.

Offensively, the Trojans were led by Taylor Bowser (19 kills) and McKenna Guernsey (17 kills). Sydney Baltus added four kills and Meghan Gaffigan tallied three kills.

Vivi Smilgius dished out 42 assists in the win.

On the service line, Guernsey tallied a team-best seven aces with Smilgius adding three aces. Lorann Lombardini contributed two aces.

Defensively, Bowser led the way with 16 digs and Smilgius recorded 15 digs. Lombardini added seven digs with Sydney Baltus and Guernsey each tallying six digs.

At the net, Ariel Rohe had six block kills with Smilgius and Caroline Parks each tallying three blocks. Guernsey added two blocks in the victory.

The Trojans return to the court tonight when they head to Highland. The JV game is set for a 5 p.m. start.
