Trojan Volleyball falls in 4 games to Crown Point

The Chesterton volleyball team dropped a 25-17, 25-20, 24-26, 25-23 Duneland Athletic Conference decision to Crown Point on Thursday night.

Offensively, the Trojans were led by Haley Notzen with nine kills and Kristi Stillman with eight kills. Abby Moon added six kills, while Brittany Milzarek and Sammi Ostrom each had five kills.

Jenna Tarnowski dished out a team-best 29 assists.

Defensively, Taylor Eaton led the defense with 16 digs as Tarnowski tallied 15 digs. Madi Dubbs and Notzen each recorded 14 digs. Kenzie Scott added nine digs in the loss.

At the net, Stillman and Notzen each had two block kills.

The Trojans return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to Portage to take on the Indians. The freshman and junior varsity matches will begin at 5 p.m.

Junior Varsity

Crown Point 25-19-15, Chesterton 24-25-5

The Chesterton junior varsity droppd a tough 25-24, 19-25, 15-5 decision to Crown Point on Thursday.

Offensively, Ginger Hedrick led the Trojans with five kills, while Karen Woodville had four kills. Sadie Spatley, Annika Babcock and Ella Whitmore each had two kills.

Carly Culkin dished out a team-high 10 assists with Eliza Tumbas tallying five helpers.

Defensively, Spratley led the way with 10 digs as Kelly Ricard and Culkin had five digs each. Tumbas had four digs and Ella Whitmore recorded three digs.

On the service line, Ricard and Whitmore each had two aces.


Crown Point 25-25,

Chesterton 16-19

The Chesterton freshmen suffered their first Duneland Athletic Conference loss 25-16, 25-19 to Crown Point on Thursday.

Offensively, Kylie Vendramin led the way with four kills and Paige Seely had three kills. Taylor Bowser added two kills in the loss.

Sammy Devereaux dished out a team-best six assists with Lexi Benko and Lorann Lombardini adding three assists each.

At the net, Caroline Parks had three block kills.
