Trojan Volleyball beats Merrillville

The Chesterton volleyball team picked up its second Duneland Athletic Conference victory of the year with a 25-6, 25-10, 24-26, 25-12 win at Merrillville on Tuesday.

Offensively, Taylor Bowser led the Trojans with 13 kills. Maggie Vrahoretis tallied seven kills with McKenna Guernsey and Ariel Rohe each adding five kills. Caroline Parks had four kills in the win.

Vivi Smilgius dished out a team-best 20 assists with Vrahoretis adding 18 helpers.

On the service line, Rohe had five aces with Sammy Devereaux tallying four aces. Guernsey, Smilgius and Vrahoretis all added three aces.

Defensively, Lorann Lombardini and Bowser had a team-high 11 digs with Devereaux tallying five digs. Gurensey and Vrahoretis added four digs.

At the net, Bowser had three block kills, while Parks, Vrahoretis and Maddie Wagner added two blocks each.

The Trojans return to the court on Thursday when they travel to LaPorte for a 5 p.m. junior varsity start.
