Trojan Volleyball beats Andrean in 3 games

The Chesterton volleyball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 25-19, 26-24, 25-21 over Andrean on Monday night.

Offensively, Emma Ekblaw led the Trojans with eight kills, while Maddie Wagner added seven kills. Meghan Gaffigan and Katie Nelson each had five kills in the victory.

Vivi Smilgius dished out a team-best 15 assists with Maggie Vrahoretis adding 11 helpers.

Defensively, Greta Tilden led Chesterton with nine digs and Gaffigan had six digs. AJ Devereaux and Smilgius each recorded five digs.

On the service line, Devereaux and Smilgius each had four aces. Sydney Baltus contributed two aces.

At the net, Ekblaw had five blocks, while Wagner had four blocks. Reese Czarniecki had three blocks with Gaffigan and Vrahoretis both tallying two blocks.

The Trojans return to the court tonight when they open Duneland Athletic Conference play at LaPorte. The JV and freshmen matches are set to begin at 5 p.m.
