The Chesterton girls tennis team dropped a 3-2 Duneland Athletic Conference decision at Valparaiso on Tuesday.

In singles, Hannah Nabhan beat Alexis Orlich at No. 1 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), while Ashley Fazekas beat Julie Wappel 1-6, retired at No. 2.

“It was great to see Hannah start strong and finish strong,” Chesterton coach Tom Bour said. “I think she’s starting to play her best tennis at the right time for us and looks to be gaining more and more confidence after each win.”

After Valpo won both doubles points, the match came down to a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory by Claire Bartech over Paige Donovan at No. 3 singles.

“Paige lost a three-hour marathon match, but I couldn’t be happier for the effort she put out,” Bour said.

Chesterton returns to the court tonight when they host Munster beginning at 4:15 p.m.
