Trojan Tennis beats Lake Central

The Chesterton girls tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-2 Duneland Athletic Conference victory at Lake Central on Thursday.

The Trojans picked up a pair of individual wins in singles beginning with a victory from Hannah Nabhan over Danice Mileusnic 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1.

Peyton Martinson scored the second team point with a victory over Holly Pasko 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.

The deciding point came from Rachel Fredenburg and Megan Hill as they beat Libby Townson and Sydney Batinick 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Singles -- 1. Hannah Nabhan def. Danica Mileusnic 6-1, 6-3; 2. Isabella Watts (LC) def. Olivia Vesling 6-4, 4-6, 6-4; 3. Peyton Martinson def. Holly Pasko 6-1, 6-4.

Doubles -- 1. Clare Gronek/Collete Oboy (LC) def. Ashley Roof/Eliza Tumbas 6-4, 6-1; 2. Rachel Fredenburg/Megan Hill def. Libby Townson/Sydney Batinick 6-3, 6-3.

Record: Chesterton 1-1 (1-0 DAC).

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 11, Lake Central 3

The Chesterton junior varsity improved to 2-0 on the season with an 11-3 victory over LC.

Singles winners for the Trojans included Paige Donovan (No. 1), Libby Gibson (No. 2) and Korie Berdine (No. 3). All three won in straight sets.

In doubles, winners included Hannah Hill-Rachel Byrnside (No. 2), Christian Charlson-Charlie Skube (No. 3) and Anna Gardner-Emily Krygoske.

The other four Chesterton wins came from play-back matches.
