Trojan Softball shuts out Michigan City 17-0

The Chesterton softball pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of three errors in cruising to a 17-0 Duneland Athletic Conference victory at Michigan City on Tuesday.

The Trojans struck early with an RBI triple from Cassidy Grimm and RBI double by Maddie Hamady. Biz Zehnerís double and Hailey Johansenís single also plated runs in the six-run first inning.

Three more tallies in the second featured on a RBI double from Marney Sisson and a two-run, two-out single by Johansen. Johansen led the offense with four RBIís.

A solo run scored in the third as Hamady scored on Lexi Benkoís double.

Three more runs in the fourth as Johansen, Sisson and Faith Matta had RBIís. The final tallies of the night came in the fifth on RBIís from Sisson, Grimm and Matta.

Lauren Anderson worked the first three frames in the circle and struck out seven. Hayley Edmonds finished the final two innings and had one strikeout.

The Trojans return to the field tonight when they host LaPorte beginning at 4:30 p.m.
