Trojan Softball falls to Hanover Central

The Chesterton softball team dropped an 8-4 non-conference decision to Hanover Central on Monday.

The visiting Wildcats scored a pair of runs in the second inning thanks to a pair of doubles and a Trojan error for an early 2-0 lead.

The Trojans answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth as Mallory McKee started things with a one-out single. Jill Bohnertís two-run home run tied the score.

Hanover Central answered with three runs in the top of the fifth on a three-run home run by Martinez.

Lisette Martinez reached with a two-out single and scored when Alexa Olson reached on an error to cut the lead to 5-3.

Hanover scored two more runs in the sixth before the Trojans answered with a leadoff single by Bailey Slivka. Slivka would eventually score on an Allena McElfresh fielderís choice.

The Wildcats scored one more run in the top of the seventh to set the final score.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 3, Hanover Central 2

The Chesterton junior varsity softball team put together a 3-2 victory over Hanover Central on Monday.

The Trojans scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning as Hailey Johansen led off the inning with a single. Alex Raudry bunted Johansen all the way to third and Johansen scored on Nicole Brossí infield single.

Elizabeth Zehner singled and Britta Johnson doubled to score Bross and Zehner.

Natalie Anderson pitched all seven innings for the Trojans, striking out nine and walking four.
