The Chesterton softball team rallied in the seventh, but came up just short in dropping a 3-2 Duneland Athletic Conference decision at Crown Point on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the fourth with a pair of runs and then added an insurance run in the fifth for a 3-0 lead.

The Trojans rally started with a walk to Gillian Price and a single by Kaitlyn Carr with one out. Following another ground out, a walk to Jenna Vagner loaded the bases.

Maddie Snemis’ single scored Price and Carr, but Chesterton couldn’t get the game-tying hit.

Snemis, Micaela Iacovetti (double), Price (double), Carr and Sisson (double) all had hits for the Trojan offense.

Lexi Benko got the start in the pitcher’s circle and worked four innings, allowing two hits and striking out two. Lauren Kobialka worked the final two frames (1 hit, 1 strikeout).

The Trojans return to the field on Saturday when they travel to Fishers for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.
