The Dan Lynch era is in full effect at Chesterton.

The Trojans new head coach is 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in Duneland Athletic Conference play after a 3-1 victory at No. 2 Lake Central on Wednesday night.

“The girls are playing aggressive and having fun,” Lynch said. “They are playing as a team and everyone is contributing.”

After three innings of scoreless ball, the Trojans scored three times in the top of the fourth.

Maddie Snemis started the rally with a single to center field and moved to second as Cassidy Grimm reached on a ground ball. Lexi Benko doubled to center to score Snemis with the game’s first run.

Grimm and Benko both scored on wild pitches to push the score to 3-0.

Benko was in total control in the circle until the seventh when LC’s Olivia Peterson was hit by a pitch and Morgan Hoppe doubled.

“Lexi pitched a great game and had a huge hit for us,” Lynch said.
