The Chesterton softball team sent its seniors out the right way with an 18-0 Duneland Athletic Conference victory over Michigan City on Wednesday.

Shelby Grimm started the first with a single and scored on Maddie Snemisí RBI double. Cassidy Grimm doubled to score Snemis. Cassidy Grimm scored when Biz Zehner hit a sacrifice fly.

Maddy Hamady led off the second with a solo home run. Shelby Grimm doubled before scoring on Snemisí single. Another Cassidy Grimm double scored Snemis.

Marney Sisson pushed the lead to 7-0 with an RBI single that scored Snemis.

In the third, Hamady reached on an error and scored when Shelby Grimm tripled. After Snemis walked, Cassidy Grimmís third double plated both.

The final touches on the victory came in the fourth when the Trojans pushed eight runs across.

Hayley Edmonds and Lexi Benko blasted back-to-back doubles and then did it again later in the frame. In the inning, Benko and Edmonds had two RBIís each, while Sisson, Hamady, Shelby Grimm and Cassidy Grimm also added one.

In the circle, Kelly Carr worked all five innings and struck out two. Carr allowed just one hit and two base runners on the night.

The Trojans return to the field on Friday when they host Highland beginning at 4:30 p.m.
