The Chesterton girls soccer team won its regular season finale 8-0 at Griffith on Thursday night.

“This was another complete victory, but it wasn’t always pretty,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “We started poorly, but responded very well. We ended up playing three-quarters of a very good game.”

Goals scorers for the Trojans included Addy Joiner (2), Olivia Hansen (2), Ashlee Bakaitis, Annalisa Hackett, Sydney Stott and Kaitlyn Kogl.

Assists came courtesy of Hansen (2), Joiner, Olivia Vesling, Sydney Balas and Hackett.

“We got goals and assists from most of the usual scorers,” Forgey said. “We balanced rotating players with keeping our fitness level high. Most importantly, we came out of the game injury-free.”

Marney Sisson (2 saves) and Carley Balas (2 saves) combined in goal for the shutout.

“The defense played very well throughout,” Forgey said. “Olivia Vesling and Alaina South were very good at center back. Especially in the 2nd half, they helped not only defend, but also made good decisions to start our attack.”
