The Chesterton girls soccer team got five goals from senior Addy Joiner and cruised to a 5-0 non-conference victory over Kankakee Valley on Thursday night.

“This was a pretty straightforward game, but it took us a while to figure it out,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “Once we recognized where the space was, we made the game much easier for ourselves.”

Joiner, the school’s all-time leader in goals, scored her 100th career goal tonight.

“The scoresheet may say Addy had five goals, but every player contributed to this victory,” Forgey said. “We got lot of players minutes tonight. We created tons of scoring chances and we’re continuing to build in the right direction.”

Assists came from Grace Bamber (2), Nikki Groceman and Emma Vetroczky. Carley Balas handled goalkeeping duties in the shutout.

Chesterton returns to the field on Saturday when they host Highland. The JV game is set for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
