The Chesterton girls soccer team had little trouble in picking up a 10-0 Duneland Athletic Conference victory over Merrillville on Tuesday night.

“We knew going in we would be heavy favorites in this game,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “The challenge was, can we come out with the proper frame of mind and use this opportunity to get better. The girls were great tonight.”

Trojan goals were scored by Addy Joiner (3), Ashlee Bakaitis, Olivia Vesling, Sydney Stott, Sydney Balas (2), Gina Geenen and Kaitlyn Kogl.

Assists were dished out by Bakaitis (3), Annalisa Hackett and Kogl.

“Our attack scored goals and our defense helped keep the clean sheet,” Forgey said.

CHS returns to the field on Saturday when they travel to Elkhart Central. The JV game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
