The Chesterton girls soccer team improved to 7-3-1 on the season with a 3-0 non-conference shutout of Kankakee Valley on Thursday.

“This was a physical game,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “We had the better of the play throughout the match, but KV is a tough, athletic and physical team. Nothing came easy.”

Goal scorers for the Trojans included Gina Geenen, Olivia Vesling and Kaitlyn Kogl. Addy Joiner and Grace Bamber each dished out assists.

“I’m proud to say that the makeup of this team is strong,” Forgey said. “Technically, physically we are good. That’s on show for everyone to see. I was pleased to see our mental strength today.”

Carley Balas recorded the shutout in goal.

Chesterton returns to the field on Saturday when they travel to Highland. The JV game is set for a 1 p.m. start.
