The Chesterton girls soccer team finished 0-2-1 over the weekend at the South Bend St. Joe Invitational.

The Trojans tied Penn 2-2, before falling to St. Joe (1-0) and Hamilton Southeastern (3-0).

“It was nice to get three games in against teams ranked in the top 10 in the State,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “If we want to be good, we have to measure ourselves against the best. We did that this weekend and showed we belong with them.”

Grace Bamber and Addy Joiner scored the CHS goals against Penn, while Ashlee Bakaitis dished out both assists.

Carley Balas logged the majority of minutes in goal for the Trojans with Hollie Skoczek playing the second half against Hamilton Southeastern.

“We had some really great performances from the girls,” Forgey said. “We found out a lot about ourselves.”

Chesterton returns to the field on Tuesday when they host Valparaiso with the JV game beginning at 5 p.m.

“It should be a battle between the top two teams in the Region,” Forgey said.
