Trojan Girls Golf falls on tiebreaker

The Chesterton girls golf team finished 1-1 in a Duneland Athletic Conference triangular against LaPorte and Valparaiso on the Marsh Course at Sand Creek Country Club on Thursday.

The Trojans and Vikings tied with a 196-team score, but Valparaiso won on the fifth score tiebreaker. LaPorte finished two shots behind at 198.

Peyton Martinson led the way for CHS with a 45, while Addison Gentry and Katelyn McCoy both fired a 48. Zoe Swanson (56) and Bethany House (56) rounded out the scoring.

The Trojans return to the course on Tuesday when they travel to Michigan City to take on the Wolves and Merrillville. Tee time is 4 p.m.

Junior Varsity

LaPorte 200, Chesterton 228, Valparaiso 230

The Chesterton junior varsity finished second in the double dual at Sand Creek.

Miranda Miller led the way with a 52. Paige House (54), Lizzy Gray (60), Mollie Haughtington (62) and Alize Lawrence (63) followed.
