Trojan Girls double up South Central, 70-35

The Chesterton girls basketball team scored 28 points after falling behind 2-0 and cruised to a 70-35 non-conference victory over South Central on Friday night.

The Trojans hit on 24-of-45 shots from the field (53 percent) and 17-of-21 attempts (81 percent) from the free throw line in the victory.

Offensively, Courtney Krol led Chesterton with 27 points, while Hailey Vale added 13 points. Marney Sisson (4 assists) tallied eight points.

Rounding out the scoring were Evelyn Pabon (6 points), Sarah Dzierba (5 points), Molly Slatcoff (5 points), Ashley Craycraft (2 points), Haley Moore (2 points) and Kelly Carr (2 points).

The Trojans return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to Hammond Morton. The JV game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 49, South Central 12

The Chesterton junior varsity stayed undefeated on the season with a 49-12 victory over South Central on Friday night.

Offensively, Nalani Malackowski led the Trojans with 15 points, while Kaitlyn Carr added nine points and Sydney Balas tallied eight points.

Rounding out the scoring were Hollie Skoczek (6 points), Emma Schmidt (5 points), Anna Gonzalez (2 points), Tori Gerhardt (2 points) and Lauren Davis (2 points).
