Trojan Girls basketball stays undefeated

The Chesterton girls basketball team built a 28-15 halftime lead and stayed undefeated on the season with a 49-32 victory at South Central on Friday night.

The Trojans put three players in double figures led by Ashley Craycraft with 14 points. Marney Sisson added 13 points and Nalani Malackowski tallied 11 points in the victory.

Molly Slatcoff (6 points), Ashley Craycraft (3 points) and Carley Balas (2 points) rounded out the scoring.

Sisson led the way on the backboards with eight rebounds, while Emma Schmidt had a team-high three steals.

Chesterton returns to the court on Tuesday when they host Hammond Morton. The JV game is set for a 5 p.m. tip.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 48, South Central 28

The Chesterton junior varsity had little trouble in picking up a 48-28 victory over South Central on Friday night.

Offensively, Carley Balas led the Trojans with 11 points, while Kaitlyn Carr added 10 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Hollie Skoczek (6 points), Tori Gerhardt (6 points), Lauren Davis (4 points), Mareet Singh (3 points), Jaelynne Corral (2 points), Sophia Raffin (2 points), Emma Pape (2 points) and Lauren Pokorney (2 points).
