Trojan Girls 2nd at Warsaw Holiday Classic

The Chesterton girls basketball team finished runner-up at the Warsaw Holiday Classic on Saturday to improve to 11-3 on the season

In the opener, the Trojans beat Warsaw 56-53 as Emma Schmidt led CHS with 19 points. Nalani Malackowski (13 points) and Ashley Craycraft (12 points) both scored in double figures in the win.

Rounding out the scoring were Carley Balas (5 points), Kaitlyn Carr (4 points) and Emma Pape (3 points).

In the championship, the Trojans dropped a 43-27 decision to Huntington North as Craycraft scored a team-high 10 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Malackowski (8 points), Schmidt (5 points), Balas (3 points) and Carr (1 point).

Chesterton returns to the court on Wednesday when they host Gary West Side. The JV game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

The Chesterton junior varsity girls basketball team finished third at the Warsaw Holiday Classic on Sunday.

In the opener against Warsaw, Liz Pokorney led the Trojans with eight points.

Rounding out the scoring were Emily Richardson (7 points), Mannat Singh (6 points), Annalisa Hackett (2 points), Bree Gentry (2 points) and Layla Ferguson (1 point).

Against Perry Meridian, Richardson led the way with 11 points, while Amani Brown added 10 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Singh (9 points), Pokorney (7 points) and Chloe Wisniewsi (5 points).
