Trojan Boys Volleyball wins Regional title

The No. 4 ranked Chesterton boys volleyball team won the Indiana Boys Volleyball Coaches Association Regional Championship with a 17-25, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 15-10 victory over No. 13 Columbus North.

Nick Mullen led the Trojans with 20 kills and 13 digs, while Kody Wilkerson tallied 12 kills, three aces and 14 digs in the victory.

Also contributing for CHS were Drew VanderWoude (11 kills, 4 blocks), Ben Raffin (10 kills, 28 assists, 17 digs), Andrew Urycki (4 kills, 3 blocks, 25 assists, 12 digs), Andrew Zimmerman (2 blocks, 9 digs), Noah Mahoney (2 kills, 2 blocks) and Jack Tilden (15 digs).

The Trojans advance to the quarterfinals of the State Tournament for the fifth time in six years and will face No. 5 Brownsburg at Southport High School in Indianapolis at 8 p.m. (EST) on Friday.

Friday night’s winners will meet in Saturday’s semifinals at 11 a.m. with the State Championship match scheduled for 7 p.m.
