Trojan Boys Tennis beats Lowell

The Chesterton boys tennis team picked up a 3-2 non-conference victory over Lowell on Monday.

The Trojans lone victory in singles came at No. 3 when Corydon Gaff beat Landon Kranbeck 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Blake Ellenwood and Chad Whelan beat Noah Durr and Nick Bank 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 ahead of a 6-0, 6-4 win for Paul Petro and Luke Liapes at No. 2 against Dawson Hornickle and Joe Gricus.

Chesterton returns to the court tonight when they host Michigan City at 4:15 p.m.

A Trojan victory would give them an outright Duneland Athletic Conference title.

Singles - 1. Luke Flemming (L) def. Matt Jewison 2-6, 6-4, 10-8; 2. Hayden Ingram (L) def. Nick Hanson 6-2, 6-3; 3. Corydon Gaff def. Landon Kranbeck 6-1, 6-0.

Doubles - 1. Blake Ellenwood/Chad Whelan def. Noah Durr/Nick Bank 6-1, 6-0; 2. Paul Petro/Luke Liapes def. Dawson Hornickle/Joe Gricus 6-0, 6-4.

Record: Chesterton 7-3.

Junior Varsity: Chesterton wins 10-2.
