Trojan Boys Soccer wins twice over weekend

The Chesterton boys soccer team picked up a pair of wins over the Labor Day Holiday with a 4-0 win against South Bend St. Joe on Saturday and a 6-2 victory over Culver Academy on Monday night.

Against St. Joe, the Trojans led 1-0 at the half on a goal by Zack Bowser (1 assist). Seth Conway (1 assist), Nathan Arthur and Robbie Capehart all added second half tallied to finish the scoring.

Charlie Eaton recorded one save for Chesterton.

Against Culver Academy, the Trojans found themselves tied at 2-2 at halftime before opening up the offense after the break.

Bowser (1 assist) led the offensive attack with three goals, while Conway (3 assists) added two goals. Nathan Arthur rounded out the scoring and Jared Carlson dished out an assist.

Eaton had three saves with Peter Girzadas recording one save in the win.

The Trojans return to the field on Wednesday when they travel to Merrillville. The JV game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start.

Chesterton 4, South Bend St. Joe 0


Chesterton -- Zack Bowser 1 goal, 1 assist; Seth Conway 1 goal, 1 assist; Nathan Arthur 1 goal; Robbie Capehart 1 goal; Charlie Eaton 1 save.

South Bend St. Joe -- Kyle Tupper 9 saves.

Chesterton 6, Culver Academy 2


Chesterton -- Nathan Arthur 1 goal; Seth Conway 2 goals, 3 assists; Zack Bowser 3 goals, 1 assist; Jared Carlson 1 assist; Charlie Eaton 3 saves; Peter Girzadas 1 save.

Record: Chesterton 6-0.

Junior Varsity

The Chesterton junior varsity won twice over the weekend with a 3-2 win over South Bend St. Joe on Saturday and a 4-0 victory over Culver Academy on Monday.

Against South Bend St. Joe, Trojan goals were scored by Gage Kruper, Matteo Guerrero and Jacob Perkins, while Tommy Oros, Hayden Scott and Benicio Alvarez dished out assists.

Ethan Boedeker and Quintin Krygier combined in goal for the win.

Against Culver, Trojan goals were scored by David Jugovic, Alvarez, Carlos Cano and Gavin Bailey. Assists came from Kaden Donnella, Kruper, Oros and Joshua Wadowski.

Boedeker and Krygier again combined in goal.
