Trojan Boys soccer rolls Merrillville

The Chesterton boys soccer team improved to 5-0 in Duneland Athletic Conference play with a 13-0 shutout victory at Merrillville on Monday.

Goal scorers for the Trojans included Jacob Perkins, Josh Pearson, Benicio Alvarez (2), Zack Bowser (2), Nick Biel (3), Gage Torres (3) and Josh Wadowski.

Assists were handed out by Perkins, Alvarez, Matt Lane, Biel, Ryan O’Dell, Torres (2), Quin Haggerty, Wadowski and Hayden Stott.

Charlie Eaton (2 saves) and Ethan Boedeker (1 save) combined in goal for the shutout.

CHS returns to the field on Wednesday when they travel to Portage for a 5 p.m. junior varsity kickoff.

Record: Chesterton 10-2 (5-0 DAC).

Junior Varsity

the Chesterton junior varsity improved to 8-1-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the DAC with a 6-0 victory at Merrillville on Monday.

John Kovalan (3), Brent Gengnagel (2) and John Paul McCrovitz all scored goals for the Trojans. Kovalan (2), Gengnagel, McCrovitz and Ben Powell all dished out assists.

Ryan McWhirter recorded three saves in the shutout victory.
