The Chesterton boys
cross country team will look a lot like last year’s squad out on the course,
even though some of the names will be different.
“We’ll be very
similar to last year,” Chesterton coach Tim Ray said. “We’ll have to do it
by committee, without a really low stick. But, I think we’re deeper than we
were last year.”
Senior Will Shook
has emerged in the preseason as the Trojans’ top gun.
“Will put in a
really good summer,” Ray said. “Will is one of those guys that was in the
State Meet in the the 4x8 last spring and I think that catapulted him into
the summer. He’s going to be in some situations he’s never been in before.
“It’s going to be a
crash course for him to learn as he goes.”
runners should be junior Matt Streeter and senior Adam Juestel.
“Matt and Adam have
emerged as our clear two, three,” Ray said.
Senior Dylan Draves
and sophomore Cole Dolson round out the Trojans’ top five. Senior Travis
Konarski, junior Josh Dennington and junior Francis Fox look to compete for
varsity spots as well.
“In a long Cross
Country season, depth is really important and I think that’s the strength of
this group,” Ray said. “When you put in the work, you get rewarded. We’ll
know a lot more about ourselves after these first two weekends.”
