Make it four in a row.

The Chesterton boys basketball team picked up its fourth consecutive victory and improved to 13-7 overall with a 60-54 win over Munster on Saturday night.

“We had a good weekend,” Chesterton coach Marc Urban said. “I think we’re making strides. We had a tough DAC game Friday night and played an improving Munster team tonight. We dug in and found a way to win both.”

The Trojans started the game with a 6-0 run, but Munster responded with a 12-0 run of their own and led 18-13 after one quarter.

“We had some really good stretches and some that weren’t pretty,” Urban said. “That’s how basketball is sometimes. When you get to this point in the season, you just have to dig some games out.”

Chesterton led 29-27 at the half and found themselves behind 42-41 after three quarters.

“The biggest thing for us is that we are better than we were day one,” Urban said. “That was the goal and I think we can continue to get better. We’re starting to learn each other. I understand them better and they understand what I want now.”

Holding a 49-47 lead with 3:56 to play, the Trojans went on a 6-0 run that included five points from Austin Peterson and never were challenged again. Peterson led Chesterton with 14 points on the night.

Senior Erik Ralph tallied 13 points and classmate Ray Yagelski scored 10 points.

“ It’s never easy for seniors to get a new coach,” Urban said. “They’ve been great. They are both great kids. We’ll never forget those guys as we try to build this thing into what everyone wants it to be. They are a huge part of us.”

The Trojans return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to face Hammond High with the junior varsity game beginning at 5:30 p.m.
