Trojan basketball team clinches share of Duneland Conference title

The Chesterton boys basketball team improved to 6-0 in Duneland Athletic Conference play and clinched a share of the league title with a dominating 94-49 victory at Portage on Friday night.

The Trojans built a 30-11 lead after one quarter and led 54-21 at halftime.

Tyler Vanderwoude led the CHS offense with 19 points, while Jake Wadding and Alex Schmidt each added 18 points. Jake Warren also hit double figures with 13 points.

Rounding out the scoring for the Trojans were Sean Elliott (8 points), Travis Grayson (5 points), Luke Lombardini (3 points), Chris Mullen (2 points), Charlie Eaton (2 points), Barrett Church (2 points), Karson Cardenas (2 points) and Landon Johnston (2 points).

Chesterton will return to the court at home on Tuesday to face Hammond High and then will look to clinch an outright DAC title on Friday when they host Valparaiso.
