Back To Front Page

The Chesterton baseball team out hit Michigan City 11-9, but it wasn’t enough as the Trojans dropped a 9-7 Duneland Athletic Conference decision on Monday.

The visiting Wolves scored a pair of runs in the first and another in the third to build an early 3-0 lead.

Chesterton broke onto the scoreboard in the third as Andrew Ralph tripled to lead off the frame. Corey Rusboldt’s RBI ground out plated Ralph.

A three-run home run in the fourth was the big blow as Michigan City increased its lead to 7-1.

The Trojans again battled back. A one-out walk to Cameron O’Brien eventually led to him scoring on a dropped third strike. Jeremy Jaeger followed with a double that put courtesy runner Jordan Dilosa on third.

Ralph doubled to score Dilosa and Jaeger.

Chesterton again rallied as Jaeger doubled with one out in the bottom of the sixth. An intentional walk to Ralph was followed by a two-out single from Rusboldt that scored Jaeger and Ralph.

The Wolves scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh before the Trojans rallied for a tally in the bottom of the inning to set the final score.

Offensively, Ralph tallied three hits to lead Chesterton. Rusboldt and Jaeger each had two hits in the loss.
