CHICAGO (AP) — Deliriously happy Chicago Blackhawks fans are descending on
taverns in and around the city spurred by rumors that players might be
stopping by with the Stanley Cup.
On Tuesday morning Twitter was alive with comments from fans waiting at or
heading to watering holes to catch a glimpse of the Stanley Cup. The
Chicago Blackhawks won the trophy Monday night with a 3-2 victory over the
Boston Bruins. By mid-morning the Stanley Cup had already made stops at a
suburban restaurant and a Chicago bar.
Fans tweeted about crowds at a tavern in Oak Brook because it is rumored
to be a favorite of Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville. Meanwhile, fans
have packed The Pony in Chicago because the Stanley Cup stopped there
after the team won it in 2010.
