Back To Front Page

To accommodate passengers attending the NHL Winter Classic at 12 p.m. (Central) Tuesday, Jan. 1, the South Shore commuter line will run an extra eastbound morning train and an extra westbound afternoon train.

The NHL will provide free shuttle bus service for passengers between South Bend Westmoor Street and Notre Dame Stadium. Busing will be available to passengers on the extra trains and eastbound Train 503 and westbound Train 508.

Train seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Passengers are reminded to please arrive early at your boarding stations.

The extra eastbound train will depart Millennium Station at 7:30 a.m. and will arrive at South Bend Westmoor Street (unlisted stop) at 9:42 a.m. (Central). Passengers will disembark the extra at the Westmoor Street location and board buses for transport to Notre Dame campus. The buses will drop passengers off at the east side of campus on Twyckenham Drive.

Note: South Bend Transpo busing will not be operating on Jan. 1 due to the holiday; busing will be provided by Cardinal Buses. South Shore busing will not be available to and from the South Bend International Airport.

The extra westbound service: the buses will depart campus approximately 45 minutes following the game, stage for loading near the campus drop-off location, and return passengers to the Westmoor Street location for departure on the westbound extra train around 5:15 p.m. (Central). The westbound schedule is tentative and subject to change based on actual game end time.

The South Shore encourages return-trip passengers to promptly depart the stadium at the conclusion of the game, and proceed to the buses for their return trips.
