Chesterton High School grad Abby Skube has been named the head girls basketball coach at Michigan City Marquette.

Skube played in 106 games during her career at Loyola University of Chicago. Skube scored a career-high 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field, including four 3-pointers against Valparaiso University as a junior.

“Coach Skube is an excellent addition to our coaching staff,” MC Marquette Athletic Director Anthony Mytas said. “Her playing career has given her the knowledge to be an extremely successful head coach. I am confident that she will develop the girls basketball team into a highly competitive squad moving forward.

“We are excited to have her join our staff.”

At CHS, Skube was a second team All-Area selection by the NWI Times. A three-time All-Conference selection, Skube was named team's defensive most valuable player after her sophomore and junior seasons.

As a freshmen, she helped the Trojans to its first Sectional title in 19 years.
