Six Trojans compete in USA Wrestling National Championships

The CHS Wrestling program was well represented in Fargo, North Dakota at USA Wrestlingís Cadet and Junior National Championship over the last 10 days.

Six Trojans competed in the 15-16 and 17-18 age divisions including Andrew Davison, Lucas Davison, Eli Pokorney, Jack Tolin, Danny Tolin and Diego Lemley.

The Davisonís and Pokorney competed in the Greco-Roman and Freestyle tournaments, while the Tolinís and Lemley competed in Freestyle. CHS assistant coach Keith Davison served as a coach for Team Indiana.

In Greco-Roman, Lucas (5th at 182 pounds) and Andrew Davison (7th at 195 pounds) each earned All-American honors by finishing in the top eight in their weight classes. Pokorney came up one win shy of reaching All-American status.

In Freestyle, the Davisonís and Pokorney each earned All-Amercian honors. Lucas Davison won five straight matches before falling 4-1 in the Finals to defending champion Ryan Karoly of New Jersey.

Pokorney, fourth overall, won three matches before falling in the semifinals to the eventual runner-up. Andrew Davison finished 7th overall and became the 15th wrestler in Indiana history in the junior division to have earned All-American honors in both styles and the 10th to repeat at a double All-American.

Lemley finished 4-2 overall, while Jack and Danny Tolin each finished the tournament 2-2 overall.

Team Indiana finished with one champion, Evansville Mater Deiís Nick Lee at 138 pounds. The team amassed 10 All-American honors.
