The post-season awards for Owen Hallas keep coming in.

The Chesterton senior was named Indiana Mr. Soccer (Player of the Year) by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association (ISCA) earlier this month. He is the first Trojan to win the award.

Hallas, who also earned All-American honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association, scored a school single-season record 27 goals as he helped lead the Chesterton to a runner-up finish in the Class 2A Indiana High School Athletic Association State Tournament.

During the post-season run, Hallas scored nine goals including hat tricks against Portage and Valparaiso in the Sectional. He also added two assists in the Semistate opener against West Noble before dishing out an assist and scoring the game-winner against No. 1 West Lafayette Harrison in the Semistate finals.

A first team All-State honoree, Hallas was also named to the ISCA All-District 1 team and won the IHSAA C. Eugene Cato Mental Attitude Award for boys soccer.

Teammate Derek O’Dell joined Hallas on the All-District first team, while Trojan senior Tyler Schroeder was named to the All-District second team.

O’Dell was also a second team All-State selection.
