Coming off a huge
win over No. 2 Valparaiso on Saturday, the Chesterton gymnastics team kept
it rolling.
The top-ranked
Trojans picked up another Duneland Athletic Conference victory with a
112.475-108.70 win over Lake Central on Tuesday night.
Sophia Hunzelman
took top honors for CHS on the Bars (9.80) and Floor (9.575), while also
finishing third on Beam (9.15).
Jordan Bush used a
victory in the Vault (9.425) on her way to the All-Around title (37.325).
Bush was also runner-up on Bars (9.675) and Beam (9.20).
Other top
performances included Caitlyn Cook on Bars (9.15), Vault (9.175) and Floor
(9.075), Mia Pak on Bars (9.15) and Beam (9.10), Belle Marchetti on Beam
(9.15), Hailee Ellenwood on Beam (9.025) and Floor (9.40), Alyssa Donovan on
Floor (9.425), Kenzie Sharp on Floor (9.075) and Whitney Siewin on Vault
(9.35).
“Caitlyn Cook
stepped up on vault and bars when we really needed her tonight,” Chesterton
coach Dawn Matthys said.
The Trojans return
to competition on Thursday night when they host Merrillville beginning at 6
p.m.

The Chesterton
junior varsity posted a 105.525 score and beat Lake Central on Tuesday.
Individual event
winners for the Trojans were Danielle Kontos on the Bars (9.25) and Beam
(9.10), Caity Bogue on the Floor (8.875) and Belle Marchetti on Vault
(9.00).
“Danielle Kontos
had her best meet of the year,” Matthys said.
Kontos won the
All-Around with a score of 35.475. Kontos was followed by Chloe Larson
(34.55) and Bogue (32.875.)
