The No. 2
Chesterton wrestling team fell behind early to No. 1 Crown Point and
couldn’t climb all the way back in a 37-27 Duneland Athletic Conference loss
Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs
started with a 6-0 lead after a forfeit victory at 106. Hayden DeMarco put
the Trojans on the board with a 4-2 victory at 113. Sergio Lemley followed
that with a fall win for Chesterton at 120.
Crown Point got a
forfeit victory at 126 that started a seven-match winning streak that pushed
the lead to 37-9.
Jude Mochen ended
the streak with a 5-0 victory at 182 and Gavin Layman followed with a 6-2
win at 195. Gage DeMarco (220) and Evan Bates (285) finished the night with
fall victories.
