Kaitlin Doud’s two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth accounted for the
game’s only runs as Portage beat Chesterton in softball 2-0 Thursday night.
“This loss is disappointing, but I thought the girls played a great game,”
Chesterton coach LouAnn Hopson said. “The defense was focused and prevented
a couple of Portage opportunities to score early in the game. But it’s tough
to win when we didn’t score any runs the last two games.”
The Trojans had runners on second and third in the first, second and seventh
innings, but couldn’t push anything across.
Megan Tymorek took the loss after giving up six hits and striking out three.
