LaPorte walks off win over Trojans in baseball

Back To Front Page

Good pitching beats good hitting.

The Chesterton baseball team got another great start from Austin Peterson, but one swing of the bat handed LaPorte a 2-1 walk off Duneland Athletic Conference victory on Tuesday.

Josh Trim hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the seventh inning off of Peterson to set the final score. The Slicers managed just three hits all night.

LaPorte took a 1-0 lead in the third inning before the Trojans tied the game in the sixth.

Tyler Nelson singled to start the Chesterton rally and moved to second on Kolton Cardenasí sacrifice bunt. Connor Krantz beat out an infield single to put runners on the corners.

Tommy Bensonís RBI ground ball plated Nelson.

Offensively, Nelson led the Trojans with two hits. Peterson struck out five and walked three in taking the loss.

Chesterton returns to the field today when they host LaPorte beginning at 4:30 p.m.
