Lake Central Baseball shuts out Trojans

Back to Front Page

Another pitchers dual? Another offensive struggle? You choose.

The Chesterton baseball team managed just five hits and only got one runner into scoring position in a 2-0 Duneland Athletic Conference loss to Lake Central Wednesday night.

LC’s Brandon Cloutier started the scoring with a leadoff home run in the second inning. The insurance run came in the fifth after back-to-back hits from Austen Wagoner and Chase Fieldhouse.

The Trojans lone offensive threat came in the fifth inning after Alex Olson led off the frame with a single to centerfield. JR Frederick’s two-out single moved Olson to third, but a fielder’s choice on a one-hop rocker off the bat of Nate Majcher ended the frame.

Chesterton’s Bobby Humphreys, the hard-luck loser, pitched well enough to win after scattering five hits and striking out one.
