Jakob Kintzele kept his stellar senior season going.

Kintzele won the individual title, while leading the Chesterton boys cross country team to a third place finish in the Duneland Athletic Conference Meet at Lake Central on Saturday.

“Jakob ran a good race,” Chesterton coach Tim Ray said. “He is still learning and getting better each week. It’s great for him to win.”

Kintzele finished in 15:15 to beat Valpo runners Colin Huber (15:29) and Carlos Martinez (15:40).

“We are just trying out some different race strategies with him to get ready for the post-season,” Ray said. “He will see the same guys the next two weeks, so hopefully he will carry this over.”

Kintzele was followed to the line by Andrew Smenyak (11th, 16:01), Matthew VanKley (17th, 16:23), Nathan O’Connor (24th, 16:37), Dylan Draves (31st, 16:58), Will Shook (33rd, 17:10) and Sam Winski (42nd, 17:27).
