Fowler wins Spartan World Championship

Bridger Fowler is a world champ.

The 13-year-old Porter resident won the Spartan World Championship in Squad Valley, Lake Tahoe, California, on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The Spartan Race is a series of obstacle races of varying distances and difficulty ranging from two miles to marathon distances. The race is held in the US and in over 30 countries around the world, including Canada, South Korea, Australia and several European countries.

Running in the Competitive Youth Class, Fowler beat more than 8,000 participants from 37 countries and finished in 15:17.

Fowler qualified for the race by winning the Chicago Spartan Race.
